What kind of work place do you think you will work best in?

Choose a country other than Japan and research and explain 1 aspect of their business culture that is different than Japan. Do you think it is a good practice? Why?



I want to work in UK, because British people shouldn't do overtime work.
I think Japanese people too work.

I think short time work is better than long time work.
Many people can't concentrate own work for long time.
I think it is very important for us to adjust one's thinkig.

I think that are same.

The Japanese proverb has " facial expressions speak".

2. Try to name as many feelings as possible in Japanese. ( 10 minimum) Then, write the English translation.

Yes. Japanese people often use onomatopoeia.

For example, When someone work a road, Japanse people conceive many sounds.

When I greet my friends, I try to keep a smile.

When I greet my family, whereas I am unsociable.

My fanily accept my feeling, so somethime I am blunt.


2. How do you greet people that are important in society?

I think it is very important to polite bow.

Alomost Japanese people think that how to bow is very important.
3. Do you greet people from the opposite sex in a different way?

No I don't.

4. Do you hug anyone? If yes, who and when. If no, why not?

No I don't, because to hug someone is too familiar.

How do you greet people in your life?

When I greet somone, I say Family name and bow only.

Almost Japanese people don't body contact.


Is it different for different people?

When I went to British to study abroad, My host family is very friendly.

It was first time we met, They are hug me and kiss on my cheek.

They had a lot of body contacts.

How so and why?

I think body contacts have a close affinity with people easily.

Therfore, They did body contacts.

Do you touch people when you talk to them? Why? Or Why not?

I don't touch people when I talk to them.

I am ashamed to touch other people.

Japanese culture

1.Bow: Japanese people bow when we meet someone. Bow mean I am not your enemy.
Japanese think most important part in our body is head, so every one bow.

2Entrance: In japan, Entrance held in April. Japanese people live on rice.
In april, Japanes prant rice, so we start term.

3Seiza (fold one's legs under oneself):Japanse people do seiza when we sit on the floor.
A long time ago, when we pray to Buddha we did Seiza.
Therefore we often do seiza when sit on the floor.

4Itadakimasu(Japanese people say this word before they eat somthing.)

This word means appreciation to all animate beings.

5Take off the shoes when we enter house.

Japanese people take off own their shoes, becouse it is clanese to do it.
To take off the shoes is wisdom from Budda.

Mr. stappit who came from Nepal had interst in Japan.

When he was students, he did volunteer work with Japanese people in his village.

In1990, he came to Japan, and he became a student at Tokyo argicultural university.

He experienced crosscultural communication.

First, when he talk about Nepal, he associate Nepal with beautiful mountains, but Japanese people associate it with poverty.

He is very sad those nepale's images.

Second, when he borrow something he didn't say "thanks" .

In Nepal, it is discourtesy to say thanks to friends.

Nepal people say thanks to only others.

In Japan, when we borrow something regularly say "thanks".

At the first time when he came to Japan, he couldn't adjust.

In1994, when he came back to Nepal he decided to publish magazine about Nepal culture.

He said that All of Nepal's things aren't best. Nepal has good points and bad points.

When someone study about cross country culture, I want to help someone to have wide horizon.
